I take effexor also, but I take 150mg. Your dosage is pretty low. Obviously you've already seen a doctor. Talk to your doctor about increasing your dosage of effexor to 150mg.

You will surely see results with your anxiety problem.

As far as being gay that will get better too. It will take time but you will get older and be able to leave your small town, and you will meet a man who you have feelings for. Look to the future. Life will get better.

I take a half mg. of risperdal for panic attacks (I also have PTSD).. Maybe you could take a fourth mg...it might take the edge off and help you not worry as much. Just because you're homosexual doesn't mean you have to be active..or obvious. Heterosexual people don't have to be active either. I wonder if people know that it won't kill you if you don't have sex..and sometimes WILL if you do. Can't you just be together as friends? Especially don't get overly friendly in public..if you don't want everyone to know. It's going to be really difficult in a small town. At least you have your mom to talk to about it. That should take a lot of pressure off you. You don't have a therapist you can talk to about it? Maybe there's a group online you can talk to..or maybe someone on here will give you their email address. I can't. This isn't my computer and they asked me not to. Maybe someday you can move to another town. Risperdal will also help you control your anger..at least it helps me. When people say bad things to me now..it doesn't hurt...what a relief!!! I don't know what you're going through...but there are people out there who do know and have been through the same thing. See if there are any blogs you can get on about sharing your concerns. i have an anxiety/panic disorder and my doctor has me on paxil which helps me not have anxiety attacks as often, but when i do have an anxiety attack i take half a dose of neproxin, its a pill that dissolves in your mouth, and it can make me feel 90% better within 2 minutes.

Try exercise for the anxiety. Jogging and biking could help. I suggest you move to a larger city were you can meet other gays who will understand you and help you.

Effexor is an anti-depressent, not an anti-anxiety medication. Do some online research about anti-anxiety meds and then approach your doctor with your recommendations. See what he says. Don't feel bad about being gay. There a lot of gay people in this world who can't admit to it, so at least you've got one up on them already. At least you can admit it.
