The only way I could control mine and actually function was by using medication. A lot of people are against it now but it has done wonders for me. I am able to go to school and out in public now. Before, I suffered from agoraphobia and did not leave my house for a full year. I think that medication is an idea you should consider and talk to your doctor about. Don't live like that if you do not have to. Life is too short.

I used to suffer these but after a while I began to notice when they were going to start and as soon as I started to feel that feeling creep up on me (mine was a feeling that I was going to be sick) I had to just keep saying to myself "You'll be fine" over and over, whilst taking slow deep breaths. It took a while but it eventually worked!

Maybe set yourself a challenge, on day 1 you leave the house and lock the door and walk to the gate / path. Next day, you do that and take a few steps out into the street. yes, it'll take time but if things have got very bad you don't want to push yourself too far, too fast. Little steps and you'll get there.

    All the best.

I think u need to go for therapy...i used to get panic attacks when i started working...The therapist i went to helped me to pinpoint what was causing my attacks. Then i had to make a few difficult decisions. I changed jobs and had to learn some techniques to control my stress levels. But now im working for 3 years and doing fine.

Just learn what is causing them, either try to change the way u think, change the situations u are in and then learn techniques on how to control ur thinking.

    Good luck =)

    Hi
I know what your going through when I was younger I would get panic attacks when I started at a new school or a new job and I couldnt control them.

I learnt to deal with my panic attacks by telling myself that I am in control..I tell my body what to do and how to breathe..why should it change when I feel anxious? I know youve probably heard it a thousand times but you really do just have to relax..take deep breaths and calm yourself down..

When I'd feel anxiety (and still do sometimes) I'd just realise that everyone goes through these situations in life and there is nothing we can do to control them. I realised to get over it Id have to face my fear and I did...

I hope I have been of some help to you..I do suggest you talk to a parent..teacher or a counsellor as they will be able to give you some professional advice..and hey...just remember..your not alone.

I had them for a while , I learned how to breath when I felt one coming on...Slowly in through the nose , out through the mouth. I also found a book to read to get my mind off from what was happening. Also remember that you made it through the last few attacks you had, and you will again. Are you on any medication for this?? That might help too, talk to your dr about it.
Good Luck, remember you will get over this. Think about what you want to do, you will make it!!
I walked alot too, which helped me sleep at night. While walking wear a ipod with your favorite music..

    Hey there,

I have Panic disorder for more than 12 years already and my condition has been improving a lot! My medication started from 20mg per day till just 10mg on alternate days (or just 5mg per day) - I even thought of quitting medication. I also realized that there are many others who have Panic Attacks out there and I decided to reach out and help them.

So I have started a blog to give free panic attack tips and techniques that have helped me for all these years:
    http://PanicAttackResearch.blogspot.com

I do hope it will help you all =)

    With Regards,
    Seng
